CPIA Dean Thomas Ward receives Fulbright Award to study education reforms
Thomas J. Ward, dean of the University of Bridgeport’s College of Public and International Affairs, has been selected by the J. William Fulbright Scholarship Board to participate in an International Education Administrators (IEA) seminar that will be held in France in the fall of 2013. Read More >
Two World Religions majors from the International College win US State Department Critical Language Scholarships
The International College students won two of the 630 Critical Language Scholarships awarded across the country by the US Department of State. Rebecca Ward World Religions ’12 was awarded a second Critical Language scholarship for Arabic Study and she spent the past summer studying Arabic in Oman. The year before she had studied in Tunisia. Tasnah Moyer was a awarded a critical language scholarship to the Republic of Korea where she continued developing her proficiency in the Korean language. The International College has produced four Critical Language Scholarships in the past four years.
Two Global Development and Peace graduates are awarded fellowships to pursue Ph.D. studies.
- Pranaya Rana ’11 has received a fellowship to complete a Ph.D. in Conflict Resolution at Kennesaw Sate University.
- Nour Awad ’12 had received a fellowship to pursue his doctorate in Political Science at Washington State University.
UB students work with UNICEF in Summer 2012
Michael McCarthy MA GLDP ’13 spent this past summer in Jordan working in the Amman UNICEF office where he helped to draft reports. Jill MA GLDP ’13 spent this past summer working with UNICEF in Hong Kong.
Fulbright Scholar is welcomed to the Global Development and Peace Program
Basak Guner has joined the MA in Global Development and Peace program this term and she has been awarded a Fulbright scholarship from her study from the US Department of State.
Mohammed Al-Azdee joins the Mass Communication program at the University of Bridgeport
Dr. Mohammed Al-Azdee has joined the faculty of the International College this term. Dr. Al-Azdee has served as an Iraq War reporter with USA Today, Newsweek and Associated Press. He completed his Ph.D. in Communication Studies at Indiana University.
