On January 26, 2012, the University held a program entitled "The Year of the Dragon & Doing Business in China: Myths, Legends, Challenges & Opportunities" that included Michael Harris, COO of Gao Fei Financial Services in Beijing; Bill Parrett, former CEO of Deloitte, Touche and founder of their Global Financial Services group; Melanie Chen, Managing Director of UHY Advisors and an attorney admitted to practice in both the US and China and Yiting Liu, Co-Founder and Partner of Ray Shi Capital Group. an investment management firm focused on China. Other presentations have included a presentation by Professors Chunjuan Nancy Wei and William Lay on "Tensions in the South China Sea" on November 14, 2012, which is available online.
Mongolia and China—Neighbors yet Strangers & The Peril and Hope of Sino-African Relations
A presentation was also made by Dr. Yanmin Yu on April 8, 2013 on Sino-Mongolian relations entitled "Mongolia and China—Neighbors yet Strangers," which has also been posted online and this was followed by a presentations on April 13, 2013 by Dr. Stephen Hess on "The Peril and Hope of Sino-African Relations".
One of the purposes of the talks is to provide information to the Fairfield County of social, political and economic developments in East Asia. We hope also that such programs help to demonstrate ways in which the University of Bridgeport provides expertise on commercial, economic and political developments in East Asia.
