Technology Management Courses

A minimum of 34 semester hours is required for the MS in Technology Management, depending on the student’s educational background and qualifications.

As a prerequisite for the program, all students are expected to have a demonstrated familiarity with statistical analysis and quantitative techniques and good written and oral communications skills. Any remedial courses taken to meet these requirements will not be considered as an elective. Students are also expected to demonstrate basic computing skills.

Technology Management core courses (19 credits)

  • TCMG 510 - Foundations of Marketing for Engineers
  • TCMG 524 - Statistical Quality Control Techniques
  • TCMG 525 - Foundations of Finance and Accounting for Engineers
  • TCMG 505 - Project Management
  • TCMG 523 - Leadership in Technical Enterprises
  • TCMG 495 - Technical Writing in Communications and Research
  • ENG 400 - Engineering Colloquium (1 credit)

Elective courses (12 credits)

Students must take a minimum of four elective courses (12 credit hours). These electives may be selected from any of the concentration areas listed in concentration areas, in consultation with the program academic advisor. A list and description of the courses available in each concentration is available in the UB catalog section on course descriptions.


Capstone project (3 credits)

TCMG595 - Technology Capstone/Project course is designed to integrate concepts taught throughout the program and requires the development of a business plan as one of the course requirements or TCMG 597 or TCMG 598.
