Saudi Student Club Award

Mahmoud  Mujalled and Saudi Student Club were recently  honored for Outstanding Leadership by the Saudi Arabian Cultural Mission to the U.S.  The club was honored as the 8th place organization out of 300 such clubs in the United States.  Let's congratulate Mahmoud and the Saudi Student Club for their work and leadership at the University of Bridgeport!

2014 ANNUAL CAREER DAY

On November 5th, from 11-2pm, stop by Knights End to receive advice/tips from ACTUAL EMPLOYERS! Bring your resume and have it reviewed, set up a LinkedIn account and take a professional photo, perfect your elevator pitch and learn tips on how to DRESS FOR SUCCESS!!!!! There will be FIVE raffles at the event, including a gift card for a men’s and women’s suit! Details to follow, check UBjobnet and keep your eye out for upcoming promotions!

 

Upcoming Events

 

ASB and SPB will be collaborating with Heifer International and will be offering a two night trip to the Heifer International Farm in Rutland, Mass. Participants will learn about alleviating global poverty through agriculture. The participation fee is $25.00 and is open to all students. This trip will take place from Nov. 21st -23rd and sign-ups will be in the Student Center Rm. 231. Seats are very limited. www.heifer.org/farm

 

Attention students! The Scribe is looking for submissions for their 'Express Your Scribe' section. Send in your poetry, short stories, illustrations, photographs, designs, comics, and any creative work. Submissions must be sent to thescribeub@gmail.com by November 1st.

12:30 – 1:30 P.M. Need some peace of mind? Come out for Meditation Mondays. Join the Wellness Club for a lunchtime meditation in the Commuter Lounge!

8:00 – 9:30 P.M. Calling all Freshman! There will be Town Hall Meeting for the Class of 2018. Come contribute ideas and be heard in the Commuter Lounge. Pizza, wings, and refreshments will be served!

9:22 P.M. The Rho Alpha Chapter of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. & Omicron Theta Chapter of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. present: Sigma’s Work Out Plan. Come join a professional Zumba instructor for some exercise and fun in the Great Room.

12:20 - 1:20 P.M. Calling all students from the College of Public and International Affairs! There will be a CPIA Town Hall Meeting in Rm. 207/209 in the Student Center. Come contribute your ideas and be heard!

12:30 – 2:00 P.M. Join the Wellness Club for some afternoon Yoga in the Commuter Lounge.

6:00 – 9:00 P.M. Caribbean Student Association and FLOH are hosting Don’t Forget the Riddim. Members of FLOH will be instructing cultural dances from the Caribbean. Tropical drinks will be sold for $1.00.

7:13 – 9:00 P.M. Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. presents Sweat it Out in the Great Room.  Come join the fun for $2.00. UBOOST will also be providing a smoothie bar.

9:00 – 12:00 P.M. Spooktacular Week will be hosting a Mocktail Social at the Twisted Café. There will be a fortune teller and free drinks for all!

Wednesday, October 29th

Rally Week is hosting Way Back Wednesday. Dress up from your favorite throwback times. Hashtag all of your photos with #rallyweek2014

12:30 – 2:00 P.M. Phi Kappa Phi honor society is sponsoring an Honor Society Coffee Hour in order to promote student awareness of UB’s honor societies and to encourage students to strive for membership in them.  Please join us in the Great Room! Light refreshments will be served. 

3:00 – 5:00 P.M Spooktacular Week is sponsoring Trick or Treat! Come grab a trick or treat bag in the Student Center Lobby.

6:00 P.M. Come out to support the Men’s Soccer team vs. St. Thomas Aquinas at Knights Field.

6:30 – 8:00 P.M. Liberty in North Korea LiNK is a global movement standing with the North Korean PEOPLE as they face one of the biggest challenges confronting humanity today. This is a unique chance to hear directly from North Koreans (through videos that address the audience) about life inside North Korea and what we can do to help. You will gain a better understanding of the challenges the people face and the ways they are overcoming them from some of the most amazing North Koreans we know. Join us in Littlefield Theatre ABC.

7:00 – 9:00 P.M. Come out to the Book Launch Party for The World’s Most Haunted House. William J. Hall writes about the True Story of the Bridgeport Poltergeist on Lindley Street. The Launch Party will consist of a presentation, Q&A, listening to rare interviews, free gifts, raffle prizes, and a book signing! (Twisted Café)

Thursday, October 30th

12:00 – 1:00 P.M. Calling all Sophomores! The class of 2017 will be having a Town Hall Meeting in the Private Dining Room. Come share thoughts and create ideas for the year!

Stop by the Wahlstrom Library Foyer to receive a BRIEF resume critique/tips to make your document more marketable!  Receive helpful handouts, as well as information on how to follow-up, or schedule an appointment with Career Development! 5:00 – 7:00 P.M. Rally Week is hosting Prep your Poster. Create a poster for Midnight Madness and prepare for the biggest Pep Rally of the year! Every Residential Hall will have materials for your posters.

6:00 – 9:00 P.M. Spooktacular Weekis hosting Zombie Manhunt! Become a zombie by getting your face painted and run around with glow sticks in the Ped Mall!

7:00 P.M. Come out to support the Women’s Volleyball Team vs. Mercy College at Hubbell Gymnasium.

Friday, October 31st

12:30 – 2:00 P.M. Join the Wellness Club for some afternoon Yoga in the Commuter Lounge.

5:00 – 6:00 P.M. Spooktacular Week is hosting a costume contest in the hUB/Marina! Individuals with the best costumes will win prizes and gift cards!

5:00 – 7:00 P.M. Save Halloween is an event to promote a safer trick or treat experience for the local children around the Bridgeport Community. All families and children are welcome to come and trick or treat on campus in the Social Room!

7:00 – 12:00 P.M. Join Midnight Madness! This event will be a massive Pep Rally supporting all sports teams at the school. There will be candy and an exciting show for all in Hubbell Gymnasium! Tickets are $3.00 for students and $5.00 for faculty. A portion of the proceeds will go to Soles 4Souls. Soles4Souls is a global not-for-profit institution dedicated to fighting the devastating impact and perpetuation of poverty.

Saturday, November 1st

6:00 P.M. Join us for the first game of the season as our Men's Basketball team takes on Sacred Heart University in Fairfield.  (Sacred Heart University)

6:00 P.M.Come out to support the Men’s Soccer team vs. Molloy College at Knights Field.
