Bridgeport developer and SASD to present concepts for 50-unit apartment building
The Kuchma Corporation and the Shintaro Akatsu School of Design (SASD) at the University of Bridgeport will unveil concepts for a proposed Bridgeport apartment building on Friday, May 10.
The presentation begins at noon at the Bijou Theater, 275 Fairfield Avenue, Bridgeport. To attend, please RSVP to (203) 366-3761.
At the invitation of developer Phil Kuchma, 30 students from SASD’s Industrial, Interior, and Graphic Design Departments developed concepts for a 50-unit market-rate apartment building located at 285 Golden Hill Avenue, Bridgeport.
Students broke into six teams to come up with various solutions for space planning, furniture, and treatments for 300-, 600-, and 750-square-foot apartments that would especially appeal to young professionals and graduate students.
Kuchma Corporation has been a driving force in revitalizing downtown Bridgeport, developing a mix of retail restaurants, the Bijou, and residential properties. Kuchma said he asked SASD students to contribute to this venture because he believed they would present fresh ideas for marketing residential spaces to graduate students and younger professionals.
