Panel to discuss environmental sustainability on Thursday, April 8
On Thursday, April 8, the University's International College will convene a panel to discuss environmental sustainability. The event, which will be held in the Arnold Bernard Center's Tower Room, begins at 6 pm. The event is funded by an award from Pi Sigma Alpha, the National Political Science Honor Society.
Panelists for the event are Dr. David Downie, Associate Professor and Director of the Program on the Environment at Fairfield University, and co-author of Global Environmental Politics, now in its fifth edition; and Dr. Frederick Swarts, member of the U.S. Department of Energy Institutional Review Board and President of the Waterland Research Institute for Water and Land Resources.
The UB Chapter of Pi Sigma Alpha was selected by the PSA national office through its national competition on academic conference proposals-the fourth year in a row that UB has been selected. The UB chapter proposed a conference on "Environmental Sustainability: State or Multinational Responsibility." Among the students who developed the proposal were Louise Lisboa, Abdullah Guc, and Kirstin Jones, all of the International College. Professor Dave Benjamin served as faculty advisor for the project.
A reception will follow the panel discussion. The event is free and open to the public.
