UB launches Global Financial Services MBA, the second program of its kind in the U.S.
University of Bridgeport’s School of Business has expanded its graduate degree programs with a new Global Financial Services MBA that is the first of its kind in New England and only the second in the country.
The two-year program is targeted to the financial services industry and will be offered starting in September 2010.
“Because 20 percent of Connecticut’s economy is related to financial services, this program fits well within the state’s and region’s major employment sector,” said Business School Assistant Dean Ward Thrasher. “It builds upon the University’s strong international relationships, particularly in the Shanghai area. Companies are increasingly looking at leaving foreign earnings overseas instead of repatriating them, say, back to the United States, and the curriculum will examine ways to capitalize on opportunities available in the global financial markets.”
The curriculum is designed to equip graduates with an in-depth understanding of back-office operations, as well as the interplay among the various financial industries, such as more traditional offerings in investment and commercial banking, as well as insurance, real estate, and retail financial planning, as they exist in leading markets around the world. The program also examines regulatory differences in global financial markets around the world.
