UB Ready Program FAQ
The University has partnered with Follett to ensure every student has every book needed for every class, by the first day of class. Our faculty will provide their course material selections to Follett, who in turn will prepare all books and course materials so they are available in CANVAS, accessible to you and ready to go for the first day of class. There is enough to think about when starting a new term — Follett ACCESS allows you to check “books” off your list right from the start. No need to worry about getting the right edition or shipping delays. There are no hidden fees or surprises later. And with Follett’s relationships with publishers and bulk purchasing, you can rest easy knowing you’re getting the best value for your course materials.
All students are automatically enrolled in the UB Ready Access Program.
UB Ready takes the hassle out of getting your course materials because costs are covered as part of the charges on your school statement. This allows every enrolled student access to all required materials on the first day of class. Once you have selected your courses, your course list will be sent to the campus bookstore. The campus bookstore gets everything ready for you. All you need to do is check your school email for how to access your course materials for the term.
Required materials are supplied at the beginning of each term. The materials will be accessible on or before the first day of class. Please continue to check your school email before the start of each term.
Yes! Students can save up to 60% or 80% based on savings at other schools and thanks to the campus store relationships with publishing partners and bulk purchasing power. The program also reduces student stress during the purchasing process and provides a method to easily access, manage, and use all course materials regardless of format or cost.
Once you have selected your courses, your course list will be sent to the campus store, and they will get everything ready for you! All you need to do is check your school email for where to locate your materials. You will be provided a digital bookshelf and/or told when the printed materials are ready to be picked up at University of Bridgeport’s Bookstore.
Depending on your classes and the course materials your professor requires, you may receive a combination of: digital course materials, printed textbooks, printed lab manuals, or workbooks.
Printed materials are yours to keep at the end of each term. Digital materials can be accessed for a minimum of 180 days and may be available for longer period of time based on the material adopted and the publisher’s terms.
Most materials will be provisioned in the most cost effective format, usually digital. As a student, if you have a preferred format (print or digital) for textbooks, you should first check with your faculty member to see what format has been chosen for the course.
If you are a student with a qualified disability requiring print versions or other accommodations, please contact Accessibility Services for more information.
If you add or drop a course, that information is automatically transmitted to University of Bridgeport’s Bookstore. For added courses, digital materials will be emailed to your school email account or provisioned directly into CANVAS. For printed materials, you will receive an email (check your school email address) when the new print materials are ready for pick up. Please allow 24-48 hours after adding a new course to allow the information to transmit and for a team member to ready those materials. For courses dropped prior to the last day to drop/add, printed materials must be returned to the University of Bridgeport Bookstore. Access to electronic or digital materials will be automatically disabled.
For all other questions, contact the University of Bridgeport Bookstore at and/or 203-576-4804 for information.
Only materials identified by your professor as “required” are included in UB Ready. All “recommended” materials will be available for purchase separately at University of Bridgeport’s Bookstore.
If that course includes a printed material, that material is yours to keep. If that course includes a digital material, the length of access is dependent on that specific materials. Please contact the University of Bridgeport Bookstore at and/or 203-576-4804 for details.
