The President of Bridgeport Hospital, Anne Diamond, will serve as principal speaker for the University of Bridgeport’s May 2021 Graduate and Health Sciences Commencement Ceremony.
Anne Diamond is President of Bridgeport Hospital and Executive Vice President at Yale New Haven Health System and has served in the healthcare field for over 30 years. She earned a BS degree in Nuclear Medicine Technology from Cedar Crest College, and an executive juris doctor degree with a concentration in Health Law from Concord School of Law. She is currently pursuing a Doctor of Business Administration in Homeland Security, Leadership and Policy at Northcentral University.
The American Hospital Association recognized Anne as the 2020 Grassroots Champion, acknowledging her extraordinary leadership in advocating for patients and hospitals. Among many other accomplishments, she led the Connecticut Hospital Association’s statewide asthma initiative to improve patient care and established and chaired the Hospital Association’s Health Equity Advisory Council. She is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives, the American Health Lawyers Association, the American Society of Healthcare Engineers and the National Association of Latino Healthcare Executives. In recognition of these contributions to the quality of life in this region and her achievements as a leader in the field, the University of Bridgeport will be awarding Diamond an honorary degree of Doctor of Humane Letters.
“We’re very excited to have Anne speak and to have the opportunity to honor her in this way,” says UB’s Interim President, Stephen Healey. “Her experience as an innovator and leader in health care aligns perfectly with the integrity and vision that our graduates need to set their professional lives in motion.”
The Graduate and Health Sciences Commencement will be held in person with limited attendance at the new Amphitheater in Bridgeport on Saturday, May 15 at 2:00 PM. Students from three colleges: the College of Arts & Sciences, the College of Engineering, Business, and Education, and the College of Health Sciences, will be in attendance. This includes students graduating from programs like the Master of Science in Artificial Intelligence, Master of Science in Education, and a Physician Assistant Master of Science, among many others.
