University of Bridgeport alumni, friends, parents, and employees came together for the second annual Giving Day on May 4, 2021. This year, supporters helped UB surpass its dollar goal of $70,000, directly benefiting student scholarships, campus organizations, professional development opportunities, campus revitalization, and other needs.
The Purple Knight family, who were inspired to “Pay it Forward” by the resilience of students, faculty, and employees, unlocked this year’s challenge gift helping UB raise a record of $142,014. The challenge was made possible by two generous donors, Sue Heckman O’Hara ’84 and Tom O’Hara ’84, who committed to doubling all gifts made up to $70,000.
“We cannot express enough gratitude for the incredible display of generosity shown by our community on UB Giving Day,” said Rich McCarty, Vice President for Advancement. “Every donor helped support UB in the areas of academics, student life, facilities, and the endowment. I’m so appreciative that so many individuals took the time to join us in giving back on May 4.”
