“After my first two years on campus I became academically successful but still lacked traits and skills I could only develop through clubs and organizations on campus. I knew the most important things were leadership and working collaboratively with a team, thus my interest in the Emerging Leaders program. As much as I succeeded academically, I am more aware of my personal development, emotional intelligence, and how to work with others, and I owe that to faculty and the opportunities that I saw and took advantage of. The lessons I learned at UB about personal growth, innovation, and empathy are more relevant than ever. The mentorship I gained at UB gave me a first-hand look at life as a professional.”

“University of Bridgeport has provided me with a wonderful, competitive, robust degree in Biology, which has significantly helped my education and career goals. The small student-to-faculty ratio and guest-speaker lectures helped me gain knowledge outside the classroom. The subjects offered during this program trained me in the latest fields of science and technology. The state-of-the-art modern laboratories at UB helped me gain hands-on experience in laboratory techniques. The rigorous practical curriculum offered helped me in my personal and professional life. Working part-time as a graduate teaching assistant/lab instructor helped me improve my teaching and public speaking abilities. “My time at UB was invaluable to my career. It really encouraged my love of coding. I was able to build a website for a student organization, which I was a member of at the time. This was back in 1999, but the website actually featured a profile component very similar to Facebook. I made it available to the world as a free, open-source product and people seemed to really enjoy it. This ultimately ignited my passion for starting a business.”

Headshot of

Adeel Tahir, MS Artificial Intelligence

“I am thrilled to share my journey as a recent graduate from the Master of Science program in Artificial Intelligence at UB. Reflecting on my time here, I am deeply grateful for the immense support I received from UB, both personally and professionally. When I entered the program, I found myself with limited knowledge of computer science, programming languages, and web development. My perception of Artificial Intelligence was largely influenced by the extravagant portrayals in movies. However, the reality was a nuanced understanding deeply rooted in a comprehensive stack of technologies. I expressed my concerns and limitations to my professors, who played an instrumental role in crafting a tailored roadmap for my academic and professional growth. Their guidance and mentorship paved the way for me to excel in diverse areas, including mastering various programming languages, delving into AI development, and gaining proficiency in web and desktop application development, convolutional neural networks (CNN), computer vision, and more.”
Headshot of Shreya Shrestha

Shreya Shrestha, MS — Enterprise Systems Developer, Goodwin University

“My seven-year journey at UB as an international student from Nepal has been transformative. Starting as an undergraduate in Marketing with a minor in Graphic Design, I returned for a master's in Analytics and Systems after gaining real-world experience. UB has played a pivotal role in shaping my personal and professional growth. Beyond academics, UB has offered real-world experiences that have enriched my journey. Serving as a creative director for Purple Knight Coffee Company, a student-run company at UB, and leading a team for the BICC Food Pantry, making data-driven marketing strategies to enhance community awareness and engagement, has allowed me to apply my skills in practical settings. These experiences have reinforced my academic learning and equipped me with valuable skills for my future endeavors. The School of Business faculty has been integral to this experience, providing guidance and support throughout. I am proud to be a UB graduate!”

Headshot of Anusha Upadhyay

Anusha Upadhyay, MS — Ph.D. Candidate, University of Memphis

“If my family and friends from my home country see me right now, they wouldn't recognize me if it wasn't for my face! I have changed as a person in terms of my social skills, my leadership skills, and how I present myself. At UB, I learned things about life that can't be found in books. UB gave me first-hand experience in many things, which I'll cherish forever! I'd never have had the courage to enroll in a Ph.D. program if it hadn't been for my advisors, work supervisors, and friends. Saying goodbye to everyone was so hard, and it made me realize how much I earned in these two years.”
